Mystery Sunday - Who dun it??

The Crime
Scene of the crime. Sunday, August 31st. Found at 11:45 am. Keegan & I had gone to church. Chad was gone running and running errands. When we returned from church, and went to change my shoes, this is what I found. I am extremely upset because my Aunt Sherri gave this to us after the birth of Keegan. I LOVED it! The time frame that we feel the incident could have occurred is between 10:45 and 11:10 am.

The Suspects...

PJ. Shady character with the ability to be smooth and fast. Extremely "hard to catch"...

Paxton. Big hearted, talks alot, always in the midst of things. May not have done it, but definitely knows who did...

Rusty. The Rookie. Not so smooth, not so fast, and VERY curious...

If you have any information that can help catch this criminal, please leave a comment. Justice must be served!!

Saturday Family Fun Day

SERENITY NOW!!!
Dad & Mom taken by Mr. Keegan, Grump Extraordinaire

Dad & Keegan

Keegan eating a gummy snake - head first!! Yuk! Such a boy!! :-)

Well, we tried to have a family fun day. It went OK. Fun, perhaps a little. Keegan was tired from staying up too late the night before. Friday nights we have Movie Night. Keegan picks out a movie and we all watch it, sometimes it involves popcorn, sometimes not. He was outside playing with the neighbor kids, so we did not get movie night started until a little later than usual. Keegan really looks forward to Friday night Movie Night, so it has been fun to start a family tradition. But I digress. Anyway, Keegan's mood on Saturday was whiny with a lot of negative sprinkled on top. Fun times. After several threats of attitude adjustments, the attitude was finally somewhat adjusted. About that time we arrive at Meramec State Park for Family Fun Day. It was a neat park. We walked through their little exhibits in the Visitors Center. Then checked out the boat launch, checked out the cute little cabins, and then got to the cave. The next tour was in an hour, so we went to lunch. And in the middle of a State Park, can you believe we found a restaurant!! What can I say, we like to eat out!?!?! ;-)

After lunch, we decided to forgo the cave tour. We are on the interstate heading home, and all of a sudden Keegan lets out a scream and started to cry hard! He had sprayed himself in the eye with sunscreen! Chad pulled the car over immediately. I tried to wipe away the sunscreen and then I tried to flush his eye. While he is sitting in his booster seat. Parked on the side of the road. Good times. We then continued on our way. Keegan was still messing with his eye, and I really didn't want any harm to come to him or his eye. So Chad & I pulled over again, this time at a Walgreens. In the middle of nowhere, I made Keegan lie down in the back of the car, with our trunk hood up. As people pass by, my child is screaming bloody murder, and I just know the nominations for "Mother of the Year" are pouring in! We were able to flush his eye again a little. When we got home, I flushed his eye again. Really wanted to make sure that no sunscreen was left in his eye. His eye looks/feels fine now.

Can't wait until our next Family Fun Day!! ;-)

One Week 'Till First MOPS Meeting

It's exactly one week until our first MOPS meeting. I'm very excited! I have a new role this year, and am a little nervous. I really want to do a good job! The last two years, I have served on the Steering committee as the Hospitality Coordinator. I really enjoyed the position, but with Katie coming soon I had concerns. Not really sure how she will do going into the nursery during meetings. If the nursery does not go well, and if she sits out with me during the meeting, I might as well not go. It will just raise my stress level and be counter-productive. Not wanting to leave Steering in the lurch to fill a position midway through the year, I decided to step down from my position. It was with a heavy heart, but felt it was best. I did volunteer to be a DGL, discussion group leader, for a table. Each table has one. I'm the Yellow table's DGL, and couldn't be more happier! I can not wait to see all the Mom's again and to see how much all the kids have grown!!

I am so stoked!!!

Cute Keegan Stories

1. I have the Dallas Cowboys schedule with a picture of Jason Witten as my background on my computer. (I do this so I know the Cowboy's schedule and thus when I can schedule things.) Now Jason is 6'5", 266 lbs, and is dressed in his football uniform complete with pads. Keegan informed me that, "My Dad is bigger than that guy!" Thought it was cute.

2. Last night Keegan kept wanting to play Duck Duck Goose. When Chad got home, we played a couple games. To start, Keegan informed us several times that, "I'm the Gooser!" Oh child, if you only knew! ;-)

3. During one of our games of Duck Duck Goose, Chad was "the Gooser". Keegan leaned over to me and told me, "Daddy's going to pick me because we are best buddies!" Too cute!! And indeed, Keegan was chosen.

Have a wonderful Friday!

It's Official

I've hit a new stage in life. Let's just say it's an older stage. When I was back in my hometown last week I ran into some old friends from high school. Not at the bars where I used to go to run into them. No, this time it was at Target, Discovery Depot (children's museum), and McDonald's. During daylight hours with kids! Can you believe it?!?! My friends and I were commenting on it. I just find it interesting to be at this stage. I always felt so young. ;-) It became a realization while we had fun playing wiffle ball on Saturday with the family, I paid for it on Sunday. Yikes!

Some more food for thought - Have you ever stopped and wondered how we look to our kids?? Follow me, think back to how you thought your parents looked at your age now. So say, in my case, remembering how my mom looked when I was 12. I just sometimes wonder how I look to Keegan. If I look young, or if he sees someone who is just way old!?!?

The Question

Well, it was bound to happen. The child only asks 400 questions a day. It's only a matter of time before he asks the question. One of these days your luck is bound to run out. Chad & I's ran out last Sunday. We were all in the car driving somewhere when the question came from the backseat, "Where do babies come from?"

Chad & I exchanged looks, and I said they come from Mommie's tummies. Chad said some come from eggs. (Yes, he was trying to diffuse the situation, but I couldn't help but look at him like he was nuts.) He said, "Yeah, like chicks - baby chickens." Keegan immediately pipes up, "No Dad, people babies." I told him again they come from Mommie's tummies, but Katie is not going to come from my tummy. That she came from a China Mommie's tummy. I think we bought us some time. He didn't ask for any more details. It reminded me of a conversation last year between Keegan and one of his buddies, Ian. It went something like this...

Ian: I'm going to be a big brother.
Keegan: You are?
Ian: I'm going to have a little sister.
Keegan: Is she coming from China?
Ian: No, my mommie's tummy.
Keegan: oh. My sister is in China.

Just thought it was cute.

Macomb on Saturday

Chad joined us in Galesburg on Friday night, and then we all got up and drove to Macomb, IL Saturday morning. Chad, Derek, & Ryle and Bailey, Jaylin, & Sam all were in the Gus Macker Basketball Tournament in Macomb. It was a lot of fun to see everyone. After the tournament, the McPherson's invited all of us over to their home. We had more fun watching more basketball, playing in a wiffle ball game, and just hanging out with the family. Miss Kathy also gave me a lot of advice about quilts!! Thank you!!

More Fun Pics with Jadie

Sliding down the tree slide together.
Very cute pic, but for some reason Keegan insists that his eyes be shut. I really don't understand why he is so ornery. Gets it from his father. ;-)

Pictures from Thursday 8/14th

Lunch and dessert at McDonald's. They were grinning like this to each other throughout the meal. It was just too cute! (Please note the people in the background. Guess people don't take a lot of pictures at McDonald's???)
Cat in the Hat and Shark play. Extremely riveting. Probably not going to catch the cat out in the water any more! ;-) I believe the cat was played by Jade and the shark played by Keegan.
Working together to figure something out.
Keegan & Jadie riding a goat. Keegan is being ornery. They are just too cute!

Pictures from Wednesday 8/13th

Keegan flying an airplane on the computer. Never crashed - just 'bounced'.
Mama & Keegan in front of Mama's favorite helicopter.
Keegan pointing out all his favorite airplanes.
GiGi & Keegan in front of the life size version of the jet GiGi had just bought for Keegan.

Fun Day in Galesburg

Sorry no pictures, but we had a really fun day in Galesburg! Keegan got to stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house, and sleep in his sleeping bag. He really enjoyed that. We met Mr. & Mrs. Albright and Jadie and Jaxson for lunch at the local McDonald's. That was a lot of fun, and the kids got ice cream cones after lunch. Whenever I would try to wipe Keegan's face, he would take a bite of ice cream. So we of course turned it into a game. I would try to wipe his face and he would go for the ice cream. Pretty cute! Then we all went to Discovery Depot. It's a really cute place in Galesburg for kids. Alot of 'hands on' stuff. Keegan was really enjoying climbing into the ambulance and pretending to drive. He also climbed into the tractor and pretended to drive. Cleaned some animals, put on a puppet show, and tried to put the bones of the human body together. Very busy!! One of his favorites was the "Whisper tube". They have a tube running from one side of the building to the other. The concept is to whisper in the tube and the person on the other side can hear you. Keegan, not the whispering type, would just yell, sing, or make funny noises into the tube. Jadie was on the other end was totally reciprocating. It was very funny! Too cute!

Thank you Grandma Bob, Mr. Albright & Miss Marlana, Jadie and Jaxson for a very fun day!!

Aviation Museum

We went to visit Grandma GiGi in Bloomington/Normal, IL yesterday. We had a lot of fun!! Thank you Grandma Gigi!! We went to the Aviation Museum. It was really cute, small, and Keegan really enjoyed it! Inside, there were alot of model airplanes hanging from the ceiling. They had a huge engine in there, and they had a computer with a flight simulator on it. Keegan LOVED that! He 'flew' the airplane, and what was nice - is that it never crashed. It would just 'bounce' back up. He thought it was pretty cool. Then you could walk outside and see actual jets and a couple helicopters. That was pretty neat too! My favorite was the helicopter that was painted cow print. :-)

Now this is not a 'high budget' museum. But I thought it was really cute, and we did have fun! I'll have to upload the pics at a later date.

Then we went to GiGi's work, which is a REALLY nice department store. That was fun to walk around and dream! Then we were off to Hobby Lobby. Had a lot of fun looking in there, and Keegan found some airplane fabric. I guess we'll be making another pillow! ;-) After Hobby Lobby, we went home and GiGi had gotten Keegan "Big Bird Goes to China". So we watched that, and it was cute. And finally finished the day off with dinner at McDonald's. Wonder who picked there??

Thank you GiGi for a VERY fun day!! We'll see you Saturday!! Safe travels!

Referrals are Out!

The referrals are out! The official cut-off date is 1/31/06. Our LID is 2/9/06. So clossseeeeee!!! Chad thinks that we will get our referral in September. I think we will receive it in October. I really hope Chad is right!!

Teein' up for my 3rd Post today

While I was at the Prayer Walk, Daddy & Keegan went to Target. Keegan got a new golf set, and they had built their own version of a Putt Putt course out in the driveway. Keegan is still out there golfing!!
