A year ago today Chad & I were boarding a plane heading to China. As I think about it, I start to get emotional. Just the anticipation. Not knowing what to expect. Going to a country I have never visited before. Making the journey to bring my child home. My. child. home.
It just amazes me that it was a year ago!

A Dear John Letter...
Dear Charter,
I wish I could say, "It's not you, it's me." But, alas, I can not. It is you. We have been together for 10 years. Lately (the last couple of years), you have not treated me with any respect, or shown any love towards me whatsoever. You act as if you do not want to be around me or even speak to me on the phone. You talk over me, are extremely short on the phone or you just plain hang up. Yes, I know you said you were 'transferring' me, but it seems that you always hang up. Perhaps some lessons in transferring may be in order, if that is truly what you were trying to do. I'm tired of your lies, never showing up when you said you would. Our relationship can not go on based on this. When you told me our 'connection' would need to be re-wired, were you trying to give me a hint? To me, it sounded like you wanted to continue our relationship, but yet again, you do not follow through.
Because of these reasons, our relationship must end. And to answer you question, I have found someone new. Someone that is pleasant on the phone, treats me with respect, and actually does what they say will do. Yes, I have begun a relationship with AT&T. We are extremely happy together.
I wish you no ill feelings, and do hope you can find happiness. But frankly, with your current attitude, it will not be easy. I will be returning your things REAL soon. Don't worry, we will return the modem directly to your corporate office. We plan on taking photographic evidence, so there is no miscommunication or mistake. You remember Atlanta, don't you? And yet, we stayed with you through that...
Have a nice day, I guess,
Terri

I. Have. INTERNET!!!!
We are officially living in the new house. The old house will belong to the new owners on Friday. The kids are really enjoying the new house. Everyone has adjusted well. Still working through the chaos, but getting close.
Everything went pretty smooth except for the internet hook-up. We are writing a "Dear John" letter to Charter. This was the last straw. They actually didn't want to hook us up. I mean they showed up and everything. But when then tech found out he would have to drill a hole instead of just dropping a wire from the ceiling (yes, he wanted to drop a wire from the ceiling) he lost interest quickly. He told me that somewhere under the ground our wire was cut that connected to the pole. He then told me that he would put in a work order and it would be an additional 1 to 2 weeks before they could come out and run another line. Then he could come back out after that and hook us up. After a couple days, Chad calls and checks to see when they are coming to run the line. They show no record of the work order. So Chad sets one up. They never come out. Chad calls again and tries to find out what's going on. They are soooo rude! They talk over him, disconnect him, and try to belittle him on the phone. Now, we have been with this company for around 10 years. And this is how they treat us. So we went with AT&T this time. It's been a small slice of heaven. They actually act like they want our business! They are polite on the phone. They answer questions and actually help you if you need it!! This is so foreign to us from our internet provider, we just aren't sure how to act. So we are gracious and polite, and oh so thankful for the connection. Which by the way, was connected and no one even had to come out and run any wires underground. Strange, huh? Not saying he was lying, but I think we are all thinking the same thing...
In the move we really didn't break anything, scratch anything, but there was one casualty. My eldest cat, PJ, went MIA. I personally blame Charter. I believe that man let her out while he was here, and didn't care. She has not returned to either home. Chad thinks/tells me that she went off to pass in peace. He says that is what animals like to do. I don't know if he is telling me that to bring me peace, but I am praying that she is peaceful where ever she may be.

Last Visit
Last night, October 6, 2009, the social worker came for the last time. It was our last visit to report back to China. It was bittersweet. Our social worker is super sweet, and we found out she is pregnant with twins! But I am also excited to venture on to the next stage of our lives. So, while I will miss letting China know how KaeKae is doing, I'm excited about finishing the process. And while I had good intentions of sending pictures of Katie directly to the orphanage, it never got done. I guess it could still get done in the future. But, realistically...
